Lawrence County deputies in Ohio have gone a full week without new leads in the search for 48-year-old Nancy Guthrie.

She was last seen on 31 January as she returned from errands to her home near Chesapeake, close to the West Virginia state line.

Family members reported her missing the following day after she failed to show up for work, prompting an immediate welfare check.

Her phone, wallet and car were found at the property, leaving investigators with few clues about how she left the house.

Sheriff Mark Copley said there is no evidence of forced entry or foul play but stressed that every possibility remains open.

The sheriff’s office, state troopers and volunteer teams have swept nearby woods, riverbanks and rural roads over the past seven days.

Searchers have used drones, tracking dogs and grid walks to scan the Ohio River valley, while detectives review CCTV from local businesses.

Investigators are also combing through phone records and financial data to map Ms Guthrie’s movements during the final 24 hours she was seen.

The FBI is providing technical support, including digital forensics and data analysis, though the investigation remains in local hands.

Authorities have activated Ohio’s missing-person protocols to speed up information sharing between agencies and coordinate community alerts.

Residents have been urged to recheck doorbell cameras, barns, sheds and outbuildings for any sign of activity on the night she disappeared.

Community groups have distributed flyers, organised short prayer vigils and boosted the sheriff’s hotline number on social media.

Sheriff Copley called the case “a top priority for our department and the community” and asked neighbours to report even minor observations.

Any credible tip will determine whether fresh ground searches or water sweeps are launched later this week, he added.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office as the investigation continues.
